Maus

This was my first 1/35 kit after many years, certainly not an easy one due to poor fittings but it was very big, bold and didn't come with many parts. It's Dragon's old 1/35 kit which I contested on ebay, I personally feel I paid way too much for it with hindsight, anyway, lesson learnt. The assembly of the wheels will test your patience, and make sure you bond them onto the hull really well, plus the tracks.... just as tedious to put together and link up.
Once you pass those hurdles the rest is ok, originally I was thinking of painting it in the patterns we see on the prototype, yet somehow I went along with something similar to the box art. Would I build this kit again, maybe... but not the old Dragon version.

Tiger II

Here is Tamiya's 1/48 Tiger II, one of the first AFVs I built when I decided to get back into the hobby in a serious way. Perfect kit to start a hobby and get excited about, not a huge kit, nothing complicated, and still holds good detail once finished. It was hand painted because I didn't have an airbrush at that stage, but that was hardly an issue i felt. The version I chose was the white washed camo, with some original paint pattern showing through.... although I would like to try this pattern again to see how much better I could present it. This isn't a award winner by any stretch, but it sure was fun to build.

F-22 and RAAF Mirage.

Some time ago I build two aircraft kits, one after the other IIRC. The F-22 is a 1/48 Italeri kit, and ended up a rather large plane once completed, a few fitting problems but I did some homework and was expecting that. The RAAF Mirage was a 1/48 ESCI kit, a simple plane which was a joy to assemble and paint. I will certainly be willing to build a Eduard version of the Mirage in the future. Sadly both of these may not survive my move.

IS-2 with panzerfaust shields.

This is Tamiya's 1/35 JS-2, but I still insist that IS-2 is the correct term. Anyway, as with most Tamiya kits this kit was simple to assemble, I wish I had more PE to play with but there can always be a next time I guess. I came across old 1945 photos of these tanks in Berlin, this version appeared to be carrying a panzerfaust shield surrounding the turret, so I decided to scratch-build this onto the kit. I felt I did a reasonable job only to find out much later that the shields were actually mesh, not sheets of steel, oh well.

Magach 6

Here is one of my recent projects, the ESCI 1/35 Magach 6. I never thought about building something like this but due to a recent group build competition I decided to try it out, and I really enjoyed it. Anyone interested in this kit only need to get the Italeri version, same kit basically.  More stuff could have been added around the turret basket etc but I felt a cleaner looking Israeli tank would do some justice in letting the eye appreciate the overall model.

“From small beginnings come great things.”

I thought I'd start a blog to record my work online, I frequent a model forum(Armchair General) and post my work there, aswell as helping out with any questions regarding models in general. As of this moment all my work is packed away in boxes due to our big move closer to the rat race.... for family reasons, but it will be interesting to leave the country behind and see how I cope.
Anyway, stay tuned and I will be posting some of my previous models.
Thanks.
